One recent article in particular discusses strategies for increasing diversity within the judiciary to better reflect the communities they serve. As state and local courts hear more than 95% of all cases filed in the United States, they are essentially dealing with matters that directly affect the safety, well-being, and stability of millions of residents across the country. While Maryland historically gets high marks for diversity within the system, the article highlights why that matters so much for ensuring a fair and inclusive justice systems.
