Luke 21:1-4 – [1] While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. [2] Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. [3] "I tell you the truth," Jesus said, "this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. [4] For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has."
It is unbelievable when you Google the net worth of famous people in the world, the numbers you see. Recently in my searches, for the first time, I have noticed entertainers being described with net worths that may exceed a billion dollars.
We as a society have felt special in the past if we could say we know a millionaire. Today, almost everyone can say they know someone who is a millionaire. Billionaire is the new special description of the wealthy.

In today's passage, I believe Christ actually sets forth God's definition and measure of wealth. In this instance, Jesus tells His disciples the actions of a poor widow giving two small coins was greater than much larger amounts given by others.
The why is simple: She gave all that she had.
This does not mean that to be wealthy, we need to all immediately write checks that empties our checking accounts. What it does mean is that to be wealthy in spirit, we need to surrender all that we have to God.
Whether it be one dollar or one billion dollars, the question is, does God own it or do you rest in the emotional security of your wealth?
For the widow, Christ exposed what her net worth really was. She was truly spiritually wealthy in God's eyes.
Stay healthy and have a blessed day!
