When the going is difficult, this will help you keep going

"I press on toward the goal..."
-Paul, Philippians 3:14
If you have never heard of a woman by the name of Cha Sa-soon, I'm honored to be the one to introduce you to her. Her story is pure inspiration.
Ms. Cha lives in South Korea. She is somewhat famous, but not because of wealth or status. Rather, she is famous for her sheer determination.
You see, it wasn't until later in life that Ms. Cha decided (or had the resources) to get her driver's license. As a senior citizen in her mid-60's, she was dependent on public transportation. Weary of this arrangement, she envisioned the day that she could drive herself to the market where she sold her own homegrown vegetables.
So, she made her way to the local license branch to take the written test.
But she did not pass.
Starting in April of 2005, Ms. Cha took the test once a day five days a week. One failed attempt turned into another and another and another. Ms. Cha would take the test hundreds of times and fail.
In fact, it wasn't until here 960th attempt - at 69 years of age - that Cha Sa-soon would finally pass her driving test. After trying for nearly every day for three years, she finally succeeded.
I CAN
Ms. Cha's story reminds us of the importance of determination in life. In fact, determination is so important, it's almost like a superpower.
Maybe this is why it comes up in the Bible so much.
Think about Paul, who was imprisoned in Rome for doing nothing but telling people about Jesus. That's what he was facing when he wrote these words:
"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" -Philippians 4:13
In a dark and difficult place that wreaked of failure, forsakenness, and despair, Paul's relationship with Christ was what kept him going. It was Jesus who supplied the spirit and strength Paul needed to take the next step and the step after that...
What it Means for Us
Chances are, you have some obstacles to overcome today. More than likely, you have suffered a setback or two recently. You might even feel like quitting. If so, like Cha Sa-soon, like Paul, and even more so, like Jesus, may sheer determination become your superpower.
Don't quit on faith. Don't quit on hope. Don't quit on love.
So what if it's your 960th attempt? This could be the one.
It's a new day with God. Run with it.
