Zoe Prieston, Founder of BALM Beauty. Growing up in Sydney, Zoe's journey with BALM Beauty began as a passion project during COVID, now blossoming into her dream brand and stocked on shelves at Sephora Aus, Nationwide. Over three years, Zoe honed products true to BALM's ethos of simple beauty. Initially landing on Sephora's website marked a proud milestone, leading to the next thrilling chapter of in-store presence.

1. Tell us about the area that you live in and why you chose to make it your home

Sydney is its most lively in the daytime and I'm more of a morning person so it's perfect! It bustles with people meeting for breakfast, or grabbing a coffee after their morning sweat sesh, which are two of the things that make for my perfect Saturday. Although a morning person, I do love trying the new eateries and bars that have been continuously popping up, particularly in the last few years. Recently, I tried and loved Next Door in Double Bay, and The Waratah in Darlinghurst.

2. Where are your favourite places to eat and shop?

Eat

  • Jackie's Café Paddington
  • Bill's Surry Hills
  • Raw Bar Bondi
  • The Waratah Darlinghurst

Shop

  • Paddington – around Glenmore Road
  • Sydney CBD – Pitt Street Mall, The Strand Arcade

3. How would you spend a perfect day in your city?

  1. Boxing in the park or a morning walk along the promenade in Rose Bay
  2. Breakfast at Bills – avocado on toast and an almond latte
  3. Swim at Kutti Beach
  4. Facial at Endota Spa Paddington
  5. A sunset Aperol
  6. An early dinner – most likely sushi from Raw Bar Bondi
  7. Movie at home with a tub of Anita Gelato

4. What is your favourite thing about your town/city?

I love how Sydney is a blend of coastal beauty and cosmopolitan flair – we have everything at our doorstep. (Arguably) the best beaches, a bustling CBD, fun restaurants, and amazing Australian fashion designers that epitomise effortless chic. Some of my favourites are St. Agni, SIR, Christopher Esber, Pfeiffer, and Beare Park.

5. Any other local insider secrets we should know about?

I love visiting tucked away coves to swim at on super hot days when I know beaches will be packed. Milk Beach is one of my favourites, as is Collins Flat Beach near Manly. And finally, Anita Gelato's pistachio and white chocolate flavour is underrated!
