On Monday, Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) personnel rushed a male individual in stable condition to the hospital after a fiery crash at Goodlands, Castries.
Emergency responders at the SLFS Headquarters in Castries learned of the incident at about 12:50 pm and headed to the scene with a fire truck and an ambulance.
On arrival, they discovered that a Lexus and a Subaru were involved in a head-on collision near Eudovic's Art studio.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Subaru sustained injuries, and the his vehicle burst into flames.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but not before it had destroyed the vehicle.
The driver, who was the sole Subaru occupant and the only person responders transported to the hospital, complained of abdominal and chest pains.
The other vehicle involved in the collision was heading to the Hewanorra International Airport with three non-nationals on board.
It was the latest in a surge of road incidents so far this year, despite road safety appeals from the authorities.
Since the start of the year, seven people have died in road accidents.
