At risk of revealing my seniority, I remembered the days before the advent of personal computer. Math involved long division, multiplication table, and essay was handwtitten. Sounds arcane? They were what I remembered from my middle/ high school days.
Since then, our lives in how we communicate, crunching numbers, and interact socially have been revolutionized, especially if you include the internet and smartphone applications. There is no going back. However, this trend is not the same everywhere around the world.
For instance, over 40% of the adults in India are not online, according to Pew Research data, whereas 99% adults in the South Korea are. Surprised? Clearly there is a digital divide has developed in the short span (less than fifty years) of the personal computer history.
So if you happened to be traveling in the non-PC parts of the world, don't be alarmed. Pen and paper still do as well.
Do you think the trend is no going back? Will the digital divide only increase?
