I'm feeling a bit self-centered right now so it seemed natural to want to do a quick post on the sounds of a Sunday in southern Florida. I think I heard a short call from a mockingbird in the morning twilight but then again, maybe I didn't.
What I did hear, all day long, was rain dripping off the roof. The white you see is one of my orchids blooming - but they are really silent so don't count for this challenge.
We went to church and heard a wonderful sermon that touched our souls, souls that have been bruised by a very trying time in our lives. We also heard the beautiful music from the choir and a magnificent pipe organ with an organist who knows how to make all 6,215 pipes make beautiful music to inspire us. The church building isn't large like the European cathedrals but the architect and the Italian builder of the organ worked together so that the acoustics for this magnificent instrument are wonderful. Sound fills every corner.
The rest of day we spent in a companionable silence as we both engaged in activities we enjoy. As the day was winding down, just before the last light had vanished from the sky, a mockingbird serenaded me in the tree outside our lanai. Do you think he came to wish us a good sleep with his beautiful song? I read a while back that listening to classical music in the evening improves sleep. Wonder if this mockingbird studied classical music as a fledgling.
Maybe you have some photographs that tell a story of sound. If so, visit Donna by clicking here to see her inspirational post.
