"Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God."
2 Corinthians 4:1-2
Paul refused, suspicious or false wisdom, shameful practices, or to corrupt God's word. He didn't cater to those around him, or try to match the culture. He preached and lived God's word. He wanted to be an example of Christ.
That is how we are called to live before God and others. We have to be real before others and well pleasing before God. This is meant not just for church but also in our daily lives where we live and work. We are all called to ministry. We have been empowered by God's grace to live right before men.
Lord, I pray that all of those who call on Your name would renounce the disgraceful hidden things because of shame. I pray they would not walk in trickery, or adulterate the Word of God. I ask by the truth, openly, and plainly let us commend ourselves to everyone's conscious in the sight of God. I specifically ask this for every person in a place of leadership in the church, and the government, and in the family as well as my own life. Help us to live the Word.
