Emergency personnel from the nearby Gros Islet fire station rushed to the scene after learning of the incident at about 10:38 pm and received backup from the Babonneau fire station and fire service headquarters in Castries. On arrival, the firefighters found the structure fully engulfed in flames, which threatened a nearby house. However, the emergency responders extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading. There were no reports of injuries due to the blaze, the cause of which is currently under investigation. On Wednesday, the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) had expressed concern over several fires within the past week, leaving twelve people homeless. Between Saturday and Tuesday, fires broke out in structures at Cacao Babonneau, Bexon, Pavee, and Cantonment in Vieux Fort. The Vieux Fort fire also spread to two vehicles. During the same period, the SLFS responded to 186 ambulance calls.
