Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9
Maybe this is one of those verses that I want to scream from the rooftop at times. When someone does something nice and then complains about it or complains why doing it, is a pet peeve that really gets under my skin! I believe a "yes" means "yes" and a "no" means "no".
Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil.Matthew 5:37
Just don't do it if you are going to say something negative about it or make annoyed gestures about doing it. Yes, at times I do have to put up with this behavior because I really can not do something. I dislike it though because I hate feeling like I have inconvenienced or put someone else out. I want others to help out of genuine desire; not help out of obligation and certainly not with complaining. It cancels out the gesture in my mind when there is complaining.
Despite saying this, I know there are times that I do this to God and likely other people (although I try to just say no). I expect him to be okay with it, yet here it is saying don't complain when showing hospitality.
Lord forgive me for when I've complained while offering hospitality. The error of my thinking as I know it annoys me, I repent and will do better!
