Wow! What a year! Full, fun, enlightening, tragic, one of growth and new beginnings; this year has been one of a kind. And through it all, God has been good! Unlike our circumstances, He doesn't change. He is good all the time and is with us through the highs and lows. Thank you, Lord!

It's always good to remember. That is something Mama has faithfully reminded us to do over the years. Remember God's goodness and what He has done. Recently as I reread a post that I wrote at the end of 2020, I was blessed to remember what God did for us then. Now I recall some of the highlights from this year too, another year that God so graciously gave us.

Milk cows - We had some big additions to the farm this year! We now have milk cows and are loving it! James has been super diligent and committed to milking one of the two every morning and evening. The other one will start giving milk in a few months after she has a baby. We are loving the fresh milk and milk products, including butter and yogurt. We look forward to making ice cream too!

Reedwood Creek Farm - We started an herbal products business this year! We love learning about herbalism, natural health and nutrition and are excited to share the tried and true herbal products that we use for our family. As we expand our gardens and grow more herbs, we are excited to be using some of our herbs in our products too.

Becoming A Doula - For years, I have been fascinated by childbirth, and this year I decided to pursue my growing interest in all things related to pregnancy and birth by taking an intensive online course where I became a certified Childbirth Educator and will soon become a certified Doula. I love mamas and babies and desire to support and educate expectant parents as they welcome their babies into the world! Stay tuned for more information about my work and website, and you can follow me on Instagram.

Gardening - I loved working in the garden this year and learning new skills. We made a new herb garden this spring and planted lots of new herbs, which was exciting. This fall, I had a blast harvesting turmeric and horseradish. I also continue to practice seed saving and was able to save several different kinds of seeds. I was excited to grow some of our tomatoes from seeds that I saved last year.

Timothy's Graduation Party - In June, we had a blast celebrating Timothy's graduation from high school! We are so proud of him and his accomplishments! We were honored that so many special friends came to celebrate with us and make Timothy's day special.

Puppies - We had a big treat this fall when we had two litters of puppies born within a couple weeks of each other, totaling eleven puppies! We have loved holding, naming and playing with them! They are now finding new homes.

Papa's Finger Injury - Papa had quite the disaster in August when he had a serious finger accident with his log splitter. The top knuckle of his right middle finger was split open, and he had to have surgery to put the finger back together. We were so thankful that he had good doctors and nurses and a good hospital experience. He has made a lot of progress in his road to recovery but still has a ways to go.

Lauren's Photography - Lauren has grown her photography business this year and continues to take amazing pictures and provide a wonderful client experience. She enjoys shooting weddings, engagement sessions and portrait sessions. I have enjoyed being her assistant at her photo shoots, taking behind the scenes videos and helping run errands for her.

Timothy's Work - Timothy was employed earlier this year with a news organization called Agenda Weekly. He enjoys writing one of the reports each week and is honored to be a part of the writing team.

Bible Bee - We participated in the National Bible Bee Competition again this year. Several of the kids learned a lot through the summer study as they studied John 1-6. Timothy and Levi went on to participate in the more intense fall study where they memorized hundreds of verses and studied Romans 1-8. We had a blast attending the competition in North Carolina and were so proud of Timothy, Levi and all of the other contestants who love and so diligently studied God's Word!

Timothy on stage with others from his age group during the opening ceremony
Levi quoted his passages perfectly and got to choose a passage to recite on stage! He did a great job!
Timothy also quoted his passages perfectly and chose to quote and act out a passage on stage with friends. They did well and were very entertaining!

Home for Christmas - Knox developed a painful and inflamed knee just days before Christmas and had to go to the hospital. We thought he might have to stay there for several days to receive treatment, but we were overjoyed when he got to come home the next day! It reminded us of how special it is to all be together! It was an extra special Christmas this year as we just reveled in the fact that we were all home for Christmas!

So much happened this year! We are always learning and growing and are thankful for the Lord's faithfulness! We don't deserve the blessings that He gives us, but thanks be to God for His mercy and lovingkindness. As we finish this year and enter a new one, let us press on in the race set before us! May we be faithful in what God has called us to do and joyfully serve Him all of our days.

Gratefully,
Hannah
