India launched three initiatives for farmers
The three new initiatives have been launched for farmers to boost their income in farming sector. These three initiatives are as follows: 1.) A portal for comprehensive data on financial services offered to farmers, 2.) A campaign to cover all beneficiaries of the PM Kisan cash-transfer programme under the Kisan credit card scheme and 3.) An integrated agricultural weather portal.
Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched these three new initiatives and asked for full digitisation of all rural regional banks and expansion of credit to farmers to strengthen access of cultivators to financial services.
Launching event:
Nirmala Sitharaman has unveiled three new initiatives which are a campaign to cover all beneficiaries of the PM Kisan cash-transfer programme under the Kisan credit card scheme and an integrated agricultural weather portal at an event at Pusa complex along with agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
Kisan Rin Portal:
The Kisan Rin Portal is a digital platform that will offer comprehensive data on financial services offered to farmers such as loan disbursement, interest subvention claims and utilization.
The portal has been developed in collaboration with multiple government departments and integrated with banks for efficient disbursal of agriculture credit.
Government of India has directed to all banks of the country for providing data and information to the Kisan Rin Portal.
The finance minister has also asked to ensure speedy digitisation of rural regional banks and improve credit disbursal by cooperative banks.
Budgetary allocation:
As per the information received from the agriculture ministry, the budgetary allocation to agriculture ministry had gone up several times to ₹1.41 lakh crore".
Ghar Ghar KCC Abhiyaan:
Government of India has also launched the Ghar Ghar KCC Abhiyaan to achieve universal financial inclusion of farmers by December 2023.
The finance minister announced that there was "no shortage of money for farmers" but called upon officials to robustly implement all agricultural schemes.
Union Finance Minister, Sitharaman launched WINDS (Weather Information Network Data Systems) for one-stop online platform for all information related to agricultural meteorology.
