This established pattern of how to live and please the Lord was instituted with the children of Israel since the Lord called Abraham (the Father of faith) and gave him a promise whilst he made a covenant with him that span through the generation after him (the children of Israel). This promise is written in Genesis 17:7; And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
