In the fifth or last test match, England won the match by 49 runs with Australia due to great performance in batting and bowling. After winning this test match, England tied the series by (2-2) in the five test match series against Australia.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first thus England first batted and was all out at 283 runs in the first inning due to great bowling by Mitchell Starc 4/82 (14.4), Todd Murphy 2/22 (6), Josh Hazlewood 2/54 (13), Mitchell Marsh 1/43 (8), and Pat Cummins 1/66 (13). Harry Brook 85 (91), Ben Duckett 41 (41), Moeen Ali 34 (47), Chris Woakes 36 (36), and Mark Wood 28 (29) were good batting from the England side.

Australia was all out at 295 runs in the first inning due to great bowling by Chris Woakes 3/61 (25), Joe Root 2/20 (7.1), Stuart Broad 2/49 (20), Mark Wood 2/62 (22), and James Anderson 1/67 (26). Steve Smith 71 (123), Usman Khwaja 47 (157), Pat Cummins 36 (86), Todd Murphy 34 (39), and David Warner 24 (52) were good batting from the Australian side. After this inning, Australia leads by only 12 runs against England in the fifth test match.

In the second inning, England was all out at 395 runs due to great bowling by Mitchell Starc 4/100 (20), Todd Murphy 4/110 (22.5), Josh Hazlewood 1/67 (15), and Pat Cummins 1/79 (16). Joe Root 91 (106), Jonny Bairstow 78 (103), Zak Crawley 73 (76), Ben Duckett 42 (55), and Ben Stokes 42 (67) were good batting from the England side. After this inning, England set a target of 3843 runs for Australia to win the fifth or last test match.

During chasing, Australia was all out at 334 runs in the second inning and lose this match by 49 runs with England due to great bowling by Chris Woakes 4/50 (19), Moeen Ali 3/76 (23), Stuart Broad 2/62 (20.4), and Mark Wood 1/34 (9). Usman Khwaja 72 (145), David Warner 60 (106), Steve Smith 54 (94), Trevis Head 43 (70), Alex Carey 28 (50), and Todd Murphy 18 (39) were good batting from the Australian side.

Chris Woakes (ENG) was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in bowling and also in batting.

Mitchell Starc (AUS), was declared as the Player of the series due to his great performance in bowling in the whole series.
