Peter Morrell, Editor comments "I have tried this wine and it has that unmistakable Villa Maria quality. The wine pours a dark ruby colour, in the bouquet there are strong aromas of plum and bramble fruits. and hints of pepper and oaky vanilla. In the mouth the weight sits comfortably between medium and full, and it's pleasantly dry, making it a good to drink with food. On the palate the fruit and oak remain and are joined by earthy flavours with leather, cedar, stronger spices, and a hint of smoke. The tannins are well-rounded, making it smooth, there is some acidity which again makes it good to drink when eating. The finish is spicy with lingering fruit.
"The Villa Maria Private Bin Merlot 2021 is very drinkable and would pair perfectly with BBQ meats, casseroles, and strong cheeses."
