John 14:1 (NLT): Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
The cure for heart trouble, and all other trouble, too — believing in God, and believing in his Son, Jesus Christ. Faith is the double cure of trouble. It delivers us altogether from the trouble, and, at the same time, it helps us to find sweetness in it as long as we have to endure it.
Notice that our Saviour says, "Let not your heart be troubled." If your heart can be preserved from trouble, you will not be greatly upset by the trouble. Trouble is in your house, perhaps; but, if so, do not let it into your heart. The waves beat all round your vessel but let not the vessel itself leak. Leaky vessels take in the water and then they sink: "Let not your heart be troubled."
You are like a ship, and all the water in the sea cannot hurt a ship if it is kept outside of the ship. Let not your heart be troubled. How are you to prevent it? Faith is the remedy. Ye believe already; believe more. Jesus said: "Trust in God; and trust also in me. You have a trust in the infinite, omniscient, omnipresent, almighty power of God; believe also in Jesus Christ as the incarnation of God's infinite love." Your heart trouble will be cured because the Savior will be able to guide you through every trouble you encounter.
Prayer: Father God in heaven, I trust You and Your power to help my heart trouble. My heart is heavy with pain from emotional hurt, from unrealized expectations, from betrayals and being left alone to deal with all of the challenges of my life. Help my heart to not hurt any more. Help to cure my heart trouble. Send Your spirit of faith, kindness, courage, clear vision, and sound reasoning to guide me through the stormy waters of my life. Thank You Jesus for sacrificing for me so I would have You to rely upon as my heart is healed, as my heart trouble is cured, as my life is dedicated to You. I pray and give thanks in the name of the one who knew what heart trouble was all about and gave it to the Father, Jesus Christ, Amen.
