In the 36th match of the T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan won the match by 33 runs with South Africa due to gear performance in batting and bowling. After winning this match, Pakistan was placed in the third position with 4 points and a better run rate as compared with Bangladesh. South Africa was placed in the second position with 5 points in Group 2 as per the points tables.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first and made a huge score of 185/9 in 20 overs due to good batting by Shadab Khan 52 (22), Iftikhar Ahmed 51 (35), and Mohammad Haris 28 (11). Anrich Nortje 4/41 (4), Wayne Parnell 1/31 (4), Lungi Ngidi 1/32 (4), Tabrez Shamsi 1/36 (4), and Kagiso Rabada 1/44 (4) were good bowling from the South Africa side. After this inning, Pakistan set a huge target of 186 runs in 20 overs for South Africa to win this match. But due to rain, the target of 141 runs in 14 overs for South Africa to win this match as per the DLS method
During chasing, South Africa scored 108/9 in 14 overs, and lose this match by 33 runs with Pakistan due to great bowling by Shaheen Afridi 3/14 (3), Shadab Khan 2/16 (2), Mohammad Wasim 1/13 (2), Naseem Shah 1/19 (3), and Haris Rauf 1/44 (3). Temba Bavuma 36 (19), Aiden Markram 20 (14), and Tristan Stubbs 18 (18) were good batting from the South Africa side.
Shadab Khan (PAK), 52 (22) & 2/16 (2), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting and bowling.
