First forward I leave my job without a job, and then luckily land another job. Since I was changing career, I happily took a major pay cut because I knew I had to start from the bottom. For the first 5 months (August to December) at my new job, my salary never covered my expenses but survived off my side hustle. On introduction of the HER and Beyond Annual land investment scheme, I decided to take on a commitment of 360,000ugx monthly off my salary to invest in land. Well it was a dare for me, but also as you may already know… I am the daring queen hahaha. Daring is my thing. I made my first deposit, made my second deposit and my third and also kept wondering where the money came from. Well, somehow it was always coming in. Prolly my side hustle played a big role.
I then skipped my 5th deposit because I decided to bet with it before I can invest it. Little did I know that this would turn into a debt I might never repay. I struggled to get up to date with my fellow investors and this almost demotivated me. Finally, an opportunity came up and brought in some ka money which I immediately banked to catch up. By the end of August I was up to date with my contributions to the fund. I feel excited and this has taught me a savings discipline. I have also learnt that where there is a will, there is a way. However small the money is, you can always put aside something for your savings/investments. I feel excited about the process of land purchase, and look forward to owning a land title at the end of the year. The group of the 2022 land investors has been very motivational and I am so grateful to all of them.
I am now eagerly looking forward to the 2023 scheme, and who knows, if my incomes improve, I may contribute for two plots, and this way, I hope to add a plot or more to my assets every year.
