The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) seeks to identify two suitable candidates to fill the following post:

ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT – INVESTMENT

(Level 5B)

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the Management Accountants in carrying out the day-to-day tasks relating to investment, projects, special accounts. In addition, he/she ensures that the required journal entries for the project and special accounts are done on a timely basis and monthly reconciliation and audit schedules are also prepared.

Academic Requirements:

The successful candidate should possess:

Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent qualification.
at least one year experience working in a similar field

Additional Requirements:

The candidate must possess:

sound knowledge of relevant accounting applications
knowledge of securities regulation
knowledge of project management principles and techniques
good knowledge of financial and management accounting principles and practices.
knowledge of investment management
knowledge of the University's accounting policies and procedures relating to the treatment of financial transactions would be an asset.
sound customer service and interpersonal skills.
the ability to work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines.
the ability to pay close attention to detail.
