We've been to a local gallery, recently.
The works of a well-known playboy and heir of main war profiteers have been on display.
It was a strange mixture of kitsch, advertising and cheap sex booklets paired with the occasional remarkable piece.
A famous quote from the refectory of a minor public art school in New England came to my mind:
"I must study war and politics so that my children shall be free to study commerce, agriculture and other practicalities, so that their children can study painting, poetry and other fine things."
So that their kids may fight again.
