We've been practicing on Wednesday afternoons for a dozen years. He and his team are BBTL and have been for a long, long time. We've been through about as much as you can go through in a Builder/client relationship. We've built deep trust and have few secrets. Freakin' magic.
Today, he surprised me with a special guest. He invited his nephew into practice to give him the gift. Brandon is on his way to college - an internship with Uncle Durp, first. He had no idea what he was getting into today. We overwhelmed him with questions and then allowed him to return the favor. He didn't know what to do with it at first. Caught him off guard. Made him uncomfortable. Forced him to think critically and made him get curious with both Durp and me. He bounced nicely. Everything changed when he realized there wasn't anything to fear. We weren't here to hurt him. He figured out our inspiration and you could see it ease his mind. We were here to help him. We were here to give, not take. He quickly learned the only fuel lighting us up was the good one - Love.
Durp ended our practice with a classic Durp bow. He told his nephew why he's not afraid anymore. It boils down to one word - Emunah. He believes God is in control and trusts, in the end, it will all work out just as it's meant to. He has faith. He has a whole lot of love. What, friend, oozes out of you? What do you believe? What fuel you running on - fear or love? Slow down. Feel. Think. Reflect. All it takes is a little Emunah, you know.
