We are going back to Portland. After 6 long years of being away. Almost 10 entire years since I first moved there, alone. Finally I got my tentative offer and start date, MY GOD it has been maddening waiting. Feeling like we are in limbo. We can finally go, jeezus I am so relieved and excited. We keep seeing food prices over there and are just blown away. The apartments are more plentiful and nicer looking than here in Rochester, the food is either comparable in price, or CHEAPER because there are food carts and they are able to sell food for cheaper than sit down restaurants. Food trucks exist here but not in pods or in places where you can find them at any time, they are more like for events, or once a month at the “food truck rodeo” and anyway, THEY ALL SUCK. Literally all 30 food trucks that Rochester maybe has, SUCK. The food is just not good here in general. It’s almost like no one knows how to cook here, not even the chefs. Going out to eat is one of our main hobbies too, so Portland really is the place for us. The weather is so much better too. Cannot wait to NOT be here this next winter and to be in Portland instead.
