While writing my book on Krishna, I often found myself drawn toward the women whose silent suffering history rarely discussed deeply enough. Women who gave endlessly. And sometimes I wonder… Has life really changed that much for women even today? For years, mothers dedicate themselves completely to their families. And they do it with love. Not because someone forces them to. Yet one day life changes quietly. Children grow up. And slowly, parents begin standing at a distance from the very center of the life they once built with their entire heart. It does not mean children do not love their parents. They do. But modern life has become emotionally and physically demanding in ways earlier generations perhaps never experienced. Today many children are themselves struggling: And somewhere in between, parents quietly learn a painful but necessary truth: Love can remain strong even when time, presence, and emotional availability become limited. Perhaps this is why parents today must emotionally prepare themselves differently than earlier generations did. Not with bitterness. We must learn to slowly build a life beyond our children too. A peaceful life after retirement is not selfishness. Parents also deserve: friendships, meaningful routines, hobbies, spirituality, travel, writing, community,
and inner peace. Because if our entire emotional world depends only on our children, loneliness eventually becomes unavoidable. Life is constantly changing. And perhaps maturity is learning to love deeply without emotionally collapsing every time life changes its shape. In the end, every human journey is deeply personal. We come into this world alone.
