I had given up on Substack for awhile. I might still give it up after all. It’s not really becoming what I thought, and I kind of refuse to give any more of my time or energy to yet another social media that want to suck all my attention from me, giving me nothing in return, wasting my time, asking me if I want to post videos or audio. If I wanted that, I would just start a podcast, or a Youtube channel. I came to substack because I’m a writer who has been blogging since Livejournal days. Since the days when blogging basically meant journaling and sharing your life and not some weird fakeness where you have this sinking feeling that the person whose blog post you are reading is trying to ultimately sell you something. You’ve been a salesperson this whole time?!!! I thought you were just some nice lady in Cape Cod who wanted to write about her husband and children’s antics a la Shirley Jackson. I considered going to an event tonight at a museum of play that we have in my city. Yes a museum dedicated to toys, video games, board games, everything to do with play. They periodically have “adult only” events where you can go and not be bothered by children running around. it’s great and I wish more places had child-free days, for those of us who do not enjoy being around children. I thought all three of my friends were going but then when we last hungout, after I got in the car accident, I discovered that no, the two friends I really like, are not in fact going. The other friend, who reminds me of my sister and I don’t particularly enjoy as much, was very obviously sad they weren’t going, and then she kind of rudely didn’t even ask me if I was going until painful minutes had gone by and she reluctantly asked, “are you going?” I should’ve known then that something else was coming...
