I have kept a journal since I was 10 years old and felt surely this newsletter enabled a space for me to write with the same feeling of free-flowing thought I feel when I write journal entries or pen letters to my friends. This is not the case. I write journal entries and letters by hand. And indeed I started writing by hand when I was 7 in abandoned half-used notebooks my dad brought back from work. I would tear out the used pages as best I could and use the remaining sheets to write on. I used revolving multi-color pens, writing in pinks and greens and reds that sadly did not withstand the test of time as well as Bic ballpoints in blues and blacks. ![]() Continue reading this post for free in the Substack app |
