Well, we had our first Well-Being Space meeting. We wanted to provide an "emergency kit" of quick, little things that students could do to bring a space of awareness to their engagments.
Our opening call was "I bring my grace, wisdom, and awareness to those present and those absent". It's suprising the number of people with which we we mentally travel through Life. At most moments, I seem to have about 12 people with me in my mind :), hence our calling forth our grace, wisdom and awarness for those not present.
We also set an intention for our practice, and reviewed this month's theme "Life is inherently oriented towards healing".
We worked on 2 "emergency kit" meditations...
- For the self: Sit and feel one's pulse at the wrist, while internally stating the phrase "I am" .
- To call upon higher help: Sit with fingertips meeitng in front of the chest, making a small whistling sound through puckered lips on inhale and exhale. It activates the pineal gland and quiets the mind.
We made sure to take plenty of breaks during these. Sometimes, people feel they can't do reflective and restorative practices, becuase they jump in with setting too long of a time period. Do something for 1 minute, take a break, resume for another minute. The stamina will eventually build.
We closed with the saying " I am individual well-being. I am community well-being. I am global well-being." We are trying to connect our individual transformation to the spaces beyond ourselves.
And, as an added bonus, the employees at my campus were also wanting a Well-Being Space, so we duplicated this event for them and will do so each week 🙂
