Don't get wet...LOL This is a cast of what was usually made of paper mache and burned. The first "burning man". Santeria de Chimayo church reputed to have holy dirt with healing powers. No pictures were allowed inside. The alters are all carved from would and painted with bright colors. There is a side room full of crutches and canes allegedly discarded by those who were healed. You used to be able to go in that room and dig in the dirt. Tourist have ruined that for most visitors. Taos is another artist community in the mountains above Santa Fe. We were there on a Sunday and most things were closed. My pictures don't really do this place justice. If you have never been to Santa Fe you need to put it on you list. You don't need to come for the Indian Market. There are artists in the streets every day. Just not as many. I actually liked it better the last time I was here without the crowds and the heat. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
