In life, one must choose to either lead or follow. There is no ambiguity between the two options. This holds true even when one is following one's own lead.
Not try to be rhetorical. The choices we face in life demand a response. Nothing remains static. We're either following the direction passed on to us or decidedly taking a different path, which is leading.
And understanding our role should precede the act of leading or following. We may be drifting along, minding our own business, charging full steam ahead, or flipflopping between roles as our minds change.
However, the situation shifts when other leaders, followers, or both are present. It's no longer about the internal monologues but rather a host of external rules, expectations and interactions come into play. Confusing these can lead to real chaos.
Do you tend to take the lead or follow others in uncertain situations?
