An interesting article by Michael Sainato in The Guardian called "Teamsters social media attacks leader over Republican convention speech" caught my eye. The subheading added some needed perspective: "Deleted post said, 'unions gain nothing from endorsing the racist, misogynistic, and anti-trans politics of the far right'."
Per Sainato's piece, "The Teamsters' social media account attacked its own president on Wednesday, saying 'unions gain nothing from endorsing the racist, misogynistic, and anti-trans politics of the far right,' two days after Sean O'Brien addressed the Republican national convention in Milwaukee.
O'Brien's meeting with Donald Trump and his convention appearance have angered some Teamsters and others in the labor movement. Joe Biden has touted himself as the most pro-labor president in American history; Trump, in contrast, has been heavily criticized by unions for his administration's anti-labor record."
As a former Republican of 25+ years, I have witnessed a party that has followed Trump down a perilous path of untruthful and hateful rhetoric. Trump is all about one thing and one thing only - what does any action mean to him. If others luck out and benefit, it is a distant secondary consideration.
To me, the Trump party is all about giving money to rich people and helping them keep. The teamsters need to know that.
