Even though sharing the same culture and history, the two nations are rivals. The North is communist run and the South democratic. Technically, the two nations are still at war under the 1953 armtise agreement. China beat North Korea for the gold while South Korea, who lost to China earlier, won the Bronz medal after beating Hong Kong. It's a true Olymopics moment when athletes from both sides of the DMZ interacted and took a selfie together, along with the Chinese gold medalists.
