Everyone has a story, often without realizing it. Human drama happens all the time. Can't spot them? Here is a mnemonic device that breaks it into who, where, when, why, and how.
At the center of our story is the main character, usually us, facing some forms of antagonist. The antagonist could be a person like our boss, spouse or an inanimate challenge like running a marathon or losing weight.
Having the cast in place, we set the stage for our story. This means the context (the where and when) and the theme (the message we want to convey). The theme provides the why - the reason behind the conflict, the journey, the struggle, and so on.
Last but not least is how we want the story to be told. Will it be humorous, persuasive, or perhaps inspirational? The tone we choose is important as it gives emotion to our story.
Do you find this mnemonic useful? Want to give it a try?
