Minor spoilers for some quests in Baldur's Gate 2
Butch:
It is Monday, right? Time has lost all meaning.
Did a little. Putzed around the temple district some, did something for a companion that got me into a fight I couldn't win, so I bailed and I probably lost a companion. Then wandered around trying to find where an excompanion was so I could pick him up again, which took forever and I had to google it. Bumped into Dorn, who Femmy will remember and told him to fuck off. Got into another big fight just to win and learn I went down the wrong corridor.
Decided it was that kind of night and hit save.
You?
Loothound:
I played my live D&D game last night, and wasn't up to jumping into BG after. Got to try D&D Beyond for the first time last night. Good interface. They made it really work.
Will play tonight. Maybe actually finish a quest. Shocker!
Feminina:
I played. Fought a bunch more trolls in some sort of cursed druid grove. This game really does love trolls a whole lot.
Like, what would seem to many people to be a possibly unhealthy amount of affection for trolls.
An affection I do not share, although we have a pretty good process for dealing with them at this point, so they hardly ever manage to regenerate – just being so tough to start with is bad enough.
Butch:
This game really, really, REALLY likes trolls. I do not like trolls.
Except for that Trollololo guy in TW3. He was good people.
Feminina:
So many trolls. So very many trolls.
I do quite like the troll-damaging weapon we picked up in Nalia's castle, though, so if we're going to continue running into trolls at every turn it was kind of worth doing that early.
Butch:
I think I remember that weapon....flail?
I think I referred to that as "Troll-B-Gone."
What I need to remember is that Aerie, who is my mage right now, doesn't yet know fireball, which is cramping my style something awful. Need that before trollville.
Feminina:
That's the one!
I have fireball and Aerie has that and also flame strike, so we do all right. I've also picked up Rasaad the monk again, and he has 'sunfire' or something...although damn, I need to find that man a ranged weapon he can use. +1 fists are nice and all, but sometimes you don't want to be that close.
I think he can throw darts. Gotta start picking those up again.
Butch:
Hey! Where's he at? I remember him!
Of course, if I bump into him, I'll be all "Hey, man, it's me!" and he'll be all "Oh, right, the guy that didn't even do my fucking side quest in the last game....."
Awkward, that.
Aerie, at least, knows flame arrow and Melf's (tm) acid arrow.
And Almagazherarwhatever's (tm) scorcher.
Loothound:
I don't have too many firey magic options at the moment, so I hope I have some time before I see a bunch more trolls.
Feminina:
Yeah, load up on fire and acid. Though really, when considering my spells before sleeping I always say to myself "even if we don't meet any trolls, are we going to want a fireball at some point tomorrow? Almost certainly yes."
Butch:
Oh totally yes. Better than stoneskin or whatever, or all those protection spells I constantly forget to a) cast or b) forget so I can remember spells I actually cast.
Feminina:
I do try to remember to cast those, given that my AC is otherwise pretty bad, but there are certainly all kinds of spells that sound good in theory but that I really shouldn't bother with memorizing given the likelihood that I will wish I had another fireball instead.
Oh, and Rasaad is in the town being attacked by druids. I don't know exactly what he's doing there, and he apparently took the opportunity to get rid of all the useful loot I gave him in the first game, but he does have some use against trolls, and so far hasn't objected to traveling with a vampire, so I welcomed him.
Butch:
Bastard. He wasn't kidnapped. What's his excuse for selling all the loot?
Probably that I left him in that dingy town and didn't do his side quest.
Feminina:
He had to survive somehow!
