Count your happiness

By Mansi Chaturvedi on 4th Jul 2024

I have always taken a walk, regardless of where I am. A walk seems really important to me. I am sure many of you do go for a walk regularly. A walk that helps you count the steps taken by you on a gadget. The steps that might lead to a healthier you. Gadgets have become a very important part of our existence and in fact we have become more of a doctor ourselves. We try to diagnose everything on our own. We have placed trackers on ourselves that count the intake of food , water and the burning of calories and the heart rate and the blood pressure monitor. Not to miss the oxymeter. As we do our walk these gadgets record everything. It's more a walk for health monitoring than of self satisfaction. how stressed do you feel from a walk or if you have gone even for a day. The guilt of that extra piece of cake that you had last night and then no walk next morning. A walk has become not a refreshing activity but more of an activity where the only reason to go for it is to track your health through a gadget.
Keep the gadgets away for a day and just walk. Just get up and start moving out not to track your health parameters but to relax and unwind. Just walk out and listen to the birds chirp , carefree, just hopping from one branch to the other, taking little flights, flapping their wings. Just walk and feel the early morning breeze that just cools the body and mind. Watch the leaves just dance in this breeze. Just look around at your neighborhood. Just smile back when someone just like you walks pass by. Just look around and see the people who are up early to provide the daily necessities of your household. There is so much going on around you. You could hear a prayer somewhere, you could hear a laughter or giggle of a child. Walk should be an experience in itself for you. You spend most of your time in a closed environments where you are constantly straining your eyes on a screen. Attending phone calls and juggling from one department to another to meet deadlines. You have already the entire day so stressful .So why not walk just to unwind. If you have someone to join you, be it your partner, friend or even your furry friend, just walk with them and no tracker this time. The body needs you to give yourself moments to just do something for yourself without counting anything around. The heart will feel more at peace as the mind will not be on an errand so stressful to complete. The pressure will come down when you will focus on the beautiful things around, so simple and so easy. The guilt of that little piece of sweet will just be a moment of happiness you gave yourself. Just walk with that taste of just a happy treat , not stressing out on the sugar levels that the number would point out. I think the more you focus on being relaxed and enjoying , the less the gadgets would be required to track your happiness and satisfaction. Let the walk be away from stress that waits for you throughout the day. Just let the walk be a beautiful , relaxing start of the mind. So today when you walk out keep your trackers at rest and take your steps to a happier you.
