Even those who claim to be believers and followers of Jesus Christ are compromising His word by making it more palatable for the world because the true gospel of Jesus Christ offends and divides the sheep from the goats—the believers from the unbelievers (See Matthew 10:34-36). Opposition of God and the gospel shouldn't come as a surprise. The Apostle Paul warned us in 2 Timothy 3:4 that in the last days people will be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. These people will hate God and be hostile to His word and the truth of the gospel. Even those in the church will not tolerate sound doctrine. They will choose to believe the doctrines of demons and listen to teachers who preach what their ears want to hear. During this time of great opposition, we must be bold, courageous, and refuse to shrink back. We must be like the Apostle Paul and proclaim the One who saves and sets free: Jesus Christ. If God calls us to testify of Him in the face of adversity, including persecution and great trials, we must testify fearlessly—knowing that the Lord is our rear guard.
