TOPIC: YOU HAVE OVERCOME THEM
TEXT: 1JOHN 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. KJV
We already established by the knowledge of God's word the truth which affirms that whosoever believes that Jesus is Christ, is born of God and whatsoever is born of God, overcomes the world. The Greek translation for overcome is to conquer. Conquer suggests that there was a battle that was won. The battle might involve two great powers, however the greater or the most powerful won the contest and became the conqueror.
Thus, our text above says; "you are of God and have overcome them". Who are them in the passage? Reading through from verse 1, Apostle John established that there is a spirit (spirits) which is not of God, it is known as the spirit of anti-Christ. They are spirits in this world with the mission to work against every and anything that is of Christ. And since you believe in Christ, and have placed faith in him, they are against you as well. However, there is no need to fear. By your faith, you have overcome them because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
These spirit or the spirit of anti-Christ dominate all that is in the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, which are not of the father but of the world. They are against the will of God in Christ Jesus and ultimately against faith because it is faith in Jesus that places a man over them and delivers him from their deceptions. Therefore, their deeds might be great but the greater one, who makes you a conqueror by his victory and power through faith is in you.
He (the spirit of anti-Christ in the world) influences certain thought patterns, ideas, decisions and way of life that seeks to destroy faith because he knows that faith is the victory that overcomes its works. Therefore, you must know that your faith in Jesus is precious. There is a He that is in you. Who is this He? That's Jesus Christ, in whom your faith is expressed. By him you overcome the world. Jesus is your choicest worth in this world. He will put you over every circumstance and situation by his power at work in you by faith.
Do not be afraid, Jesus won the battle and has given us the victory. The victory that overcomes the world is our faith. We are victorious people because we are people of faith. Our faith in the lord largely determines our lot in life. And our lot in life is all that the power of God in Christ Jesus has established. Glory to God because his power established eternal victory, joy, and glory above the system of this world. We can rule and reign over their influence by the victory we have, which is our faith.
PRAYER
Thank you, Jesus, because you are in me as the greater one, against he that is in the world. All that is in the world are not enough to overcome me. For I have the victory and it's my faith in you. I live by faith and not by sight in Jesus' name. Amen
