In our busy lives, taking the time to do things seems a luxury. So much to do and yet so little time. Not to mention, we have a limited time on Earth. How can we make the most of it?
Good question.
First, multi-tasking is overrated. For the mundane tasks, perhaps it can work. But not with people - we are not machines. In fact, I despise chatbots that provide only limited scripted answers. They are useless and a waste of time in my opinion. Human relationships and transactions are complex and not meant for it.
So contrary to the belief of cramming as much as we can, what are the options? One possibility is to go slow. Yes, that's right. Taking the time to fully immerse in the experience, particularly if it is important to us. Touch it, feel it, and integrate it into our senses. Not only it's more engaging, we minimize chance of re-learning and mistakes.
In a way, taking the time is going slow to go fast. Life is not a race (despite what others say). Finishing it is not the goal. Rather, taking our time to smell the flowers, embrace the love ones, appreciate the little things that make a difference to us. This way, we are bound to have a fuller life.
Do you agree that be efficient is nowhere like being effective?
