"I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken." Psalms 62:1-2, 5-6
Waiting on the Lord, for something really big or really needed, can feel like you're hanging on by a single branch in the middle of a storm that has destroyed everything in its path. I grew up
in tornado alley and although I've never been in a tornado, I've walked in the aftermath. But waiting on the Lord, while it may feel exposing is really more like going to the storm shelter. Storm shelters are places all around the city, and in some peoples homes, that are designed to weather the storm.
God is our rock and our fortress. Rocks, at least big ones aren't moved by storms. Fortresses are made to a stand attack. So it is important that we know the branch we are holding onto is the Branch of Righteousness, we are firmly rooted in Him.
Lord, thank You that I have the option of waiting in My Rock and Fortress. When I am going through things, if I am being tossed about help me safely get to You.
