One look at your face and I melt
You were the precious one meant
We had waited for decades
Tried numerous IVF and surrogates
Registered our name for adoption
No prefered race, country, or religion
Ready to embrace an baby unknown
To hold, love and hold as our own
Many heartaches and disappointments
Hopes raised, squashed, resurrected
Just as we reconciled with fate
For a life without tiny pattering feet
A call came from an adoption agency
"Would you like to come meet a baby?"
With hearts in our mouths, we hurried
"Please let this be the day, we prayed"
Waiting to see you was the hardest
But once we saw you, our dearest
We cried tears of joy to have finally
Met the one meant to be our family
