It's Saturday, again. Why the last part,"again"? It's because I have had a change of heart toward this portion of the weekend.
You see, while working, Saturdays were the break from the 9 to 5 grind. Time to relax and recreate. Sundays were to a lesser degree because that's the day of preparation for the coming week. I looked forward to this guidepost. Not to mention, I joined my running group every Saturday morning for our long run.
With retirement, Saturdays no longer hold the same value in my heart. Favoring a more leisure pace & less crowds, I prefer running errands during the weekdays when I'm more relaxed without having to fight the rush hour traffics and have more opportunities to engage in true recreations.
When the Coronavirus pandemic hit four years ago, my marathon running was put on hold. And my Saturday long run lost its luster. I turned to other activities to fill its place. The long ans short of it is Saturday has fallen a long way from being my favorite.
Do you have a favorite day of the week?
