Whew.
Big things. Little things. The major and the mundane alike. We have to cope with them all. All the things that come up day to day and throughout our lives. That's the human experience.
Over the last few days I've had dose after dose from friends coping with major life events:
Parenting teens through major struggles;
Helping elder parents in the throes of mental health challenges;
Coping with news of cancer, the resulting indication of our own mortality, and determining the best path for treatment.
Whew.
And the mundane,
also dealing with kids who don't want to clean up, take a shower, put their clothes away, or generally have the positive and responsive attitude I prefer;
And a toilet that slow-fills, thus requiring bailing water into the tank to make it work effectively;
You get the idea ... it's all part of the game. Sometimes the downs feel like they're piling on ...
But then your kid finally decides to take a little more responsibility; you realize you have more fortitude than you first thought, coping with a new (or sustained) life struggle.
Toils and toilets, lemons and maybe a little lemonade, that's life.
Amor Fati: Love your fate.
