Minor spoilers for some characters in Baldur's Gate 2
Loothound:
Okay, progress. Couldn't (well, didn't want to) go back to redo the circus because the only other save I had was back in the dungeon of Chapter 1. Decided to go visit the scenic slums. Fortunately, potential companions are practically falling from trees, so missing out on Aerie won't hurt me too badly. Nalia is filling the Imoen shaped hole in my heart for the moment, and her inventory currently reads: "Scrolls. All the scrolls."
Briefly had Hexxat with me, but she's evil and really gave me the wig with all her tremulous rambling about cemeteries. I ditched her in a hot minute when Anomen came along. Fighter/cleric? Yes, please. His personality, however, may have me regretting that decision. Every time I hear his voice I want to slap him in the back of the neck.
Still, fully loaded party and ready for excitement!
Feminina:
Yeah, I have Anomen as well, and he's pretty annoying. I'm waiting for the backstory on how he's not nearly as cool as he keeps saying he is...though I have not yet challenged him on it, instead merely smiling and nodding, partly because I'm so polite and partly because I don't really care about his history at the moment as long as I can shove him between me and something dangerous when the need arises.
Butch:
Wither poor Aerie. I'll...take good care of mine. If you know what I'm saying.
So, who's your wizard?
I was a dope and told Nalia that I would help her later thinking she'd hang out at the coronet like a normal NPC but NOOOO she was all "Well, I'll meet you by my estate," so I'll go hang out with her when I'm ready to do her side quest, which'll be a while. She's cool, though. I'll get to her.
Thus, I have the original crew of Jaheira, Minsc and Yoshimo, plus Aeire and Amonen who I picked up because he wasn't an evil vampire (though I did do her thing) or Korgan, who was just a shit head. He's in the Coronet, too, and he's a shit head.
I'm curious to see how your lack of Aerie affects a quest you may get in the bridge district.
Amonen makes me want to apologize to the world for unleashing my arrogant priest of Torm on everyone.
But careful, Femmy. You might want to romance that arrogant, brooding stuffed suit of armor later.
So what did you do with that party, Looty? Just assembled it?
Also, ran into my ex from BG1 last night. Awkward...... We'll talk. Later.
Loothound:
Right now Nalia is my wizard, and my thief. Like I said, filling the Imoen shaped hole in my life.
I was bone tired last night, so once I figured out who I wanted in my group (basically, more healing and more magic thiefing) I called it a night. Tomorrow night I'm going to try to channel the old Loothound and play until 2:30 or something. Man, I hate getting old and having responsibilities…
Butch:
Ah, man, she's a wizard? I forgot she was a wizard! Now I'm really mad she took off. Rather have her than Yoshimo.
Responsibilities are the fucking worst. I got a lot in last night because Mrs. McP is off to New Orleans for a few days so it's me against the world for a while, which means you all can catch me. I want to go to New Orleans.
I'm not even going to ask her for poetry. No one needs to see Mrs. McP's poetry.
Loothound:
Yep, and good thing too. When you said that Aerie was going to be my only shot for a while, I was really worried. I just remembered I did do something, but ended up bailing when things went south. I investigated the upstairs of the Copper Coronet, due to rumors of interesting shenanigans. Jaheira did NOT appreciate the goings-on up there, and was very vocal about it. Ended up in a fight I was ill prepared for. Gonna check that out again at some point.
What, is all of Mrs. McP's poetry about budgets or something?
Requisitions unfiled
Uncounted beans on table
I am become death
Butch:
Yeah, there's all sorts of stuff behind the coronet. Backrooms, yo. I don't know why they have a bouncer if all you have to do to get by the bouncer is ask the baretender to get past the bouncer. If life was only so easy.
You got into a fight upstairs? With who?
Stop plagiarizing my wife.
Feminina:
I'm trying to help Nalia right now...once we rest and recover spells. I have a lot of spellcasters right now, which is extremely annoying in the city where we have to be wary of the Cowled Ones, but could be OK out here in the countryside.
Butch:
I remember that quest. It's a good quest.
I am waiting a few levels before doing that quest. He said ominously.
Feminina:
I refuse to listen to defeatist foreshadowing. It's going to be great.
Butch:
Not defeatist. Just OMINOUS!!
Oooooooo!
I rested last night and I still, cannot for the life of me, figure out the differences between the options in inns. After playing this game already, playing BG1 and playing this now, I totally give up. Looty, if you can figure it out, good on ya.
Loothound:
Yeah, I don't know about the inn rooms. It says in the description that the poor room is not as restful, but I didn't notice any difference between it and the merchant room. Haven't sprung for noble yet.
Also, I am now going to start a band called Defeatist Foreshadowing.
Feminina:
I wonder if maybe it does something subtle for your reputation to be seen booking the nicer rooms?
I tend to buy the not-quite-worst one, but don't see the point of springing for the really nice ones. Although later in the game when I actually have money to burn, I may feel differently.
Butch:
I even went royal last night and there's six gold I'll never get back. I like to think it's just special comfy.
Oh, speaking of resting, have we all gotten at least one dream?
Loothound:
Dreams? No, definitely not. Is it some sort of Child of Bhaal thing?
Is it Defeatist Foreshadowing?
Butch:
Um, sorta.
They'll pop up when you rest. I guess I rest a lot. That free healing, you know.
Feminina:
Had one where Imoen was talking to Irenicus. Something about unlocking power and not understanding anything, blah blah. Typical snide Irenicus.
Butch:
I was also interested that Irenicus seems totally chill with being held captive.
Hmm.
I actually am Hmming because I remember nothing about this.
