She smiled and said that her mother had told her that it was because every day is Children's Day. It took me a while to understand what she meant, but now I think about this often, because no matter how old we get in many ways we are all children and every day is our day. Every day belongs to each and every being on earth, to each and every animal, plant, tree, fungus, stromatolite, bacteria, and slime mold. And every day is precious when I see the world through the eyes of love, when I act with love and kindness. Thank you, Mom.
