Other times emotional stress, pressure, personal or job dissatisfaction can all contribute to an ongoing sense of struggle or anxiety. Like us, Nehemiah also experienced sadness when he thought about the condition of Jerusalem. In Nehemiah 2:2 It says, "So the king said to me, "Why is your face sad though you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of heart." Then I was very much afraid.". Why would Nehemiah be afraid? Because being sad in the presence of the king was an insult. It was interpreted as your disapproval of him, and that his reign was not good. Such sadness was punishable by death. It's a reminder to us that prolonged sadness in us can bring a kind of death. However, we must remember that the joy of the Lord is our strength, and in His Presence is fullness joy. Get in God's Presence and His joy will always change your sorrow into dancing. Today's Word: Are you feeling down, sad or depressed? Let the joy that you find in His Presence overtake your life. He will fill your mouth with laughter. | | | |
