Over half of the $69M coming to Maryland from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will go to county governments fulfilling primary and secondary roles on projects to combat homelessness.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded Maryland nearly $69 million for homeless services through the Continuum of Care program as part of a historic $3.16 billion nationwide allocation. The Continuum of Care programs support community homelessness response systems across the country, providing grants to a number of agency types, including local governments, for permanent and short-term housing assistance, supportive services, planning, data, and other costs. Just shy of $39M of the allocation will be going to local governments as primary actors and oversight agencies for implementation of the funds.
Baltimore City is receiving the largest allocation of the local jurisdictions at $28M+.
Anne Arundel, Baltimore County, Howard, and Prince George's are accepting totals ranging from $1-2.7M each.
Somerset County Health Department will receive a $1M+ on behalf of the tri-county consortium of Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester.
