Finding Zoe; Episode 13

May 3

It was one hour thirty minutes yet both parties were not ready to end the call. God really helped them to pray.

However, Gbade decided to be considerate since both of them had to prepare for work the following morning.

"Let's begin to thank God for answered prayers…" He spoke up.
"Thank You Jesus. We bless you because you have heard us" Ogechi responded.
"In Jesus name we have prayed"
"Amen" They both chorused.

"Thank you for praying with me. It was wonderful" Gbade grinned.

"No, you came up with the idea so I should be thanking you. I was really blessed" Ogechi smiled.

"So, would you like to do this again some other time?"

"Definitely"

"Alright… Let me leave you to rest. Goodnight"

"Goodnight Gbade"

"Happy new year!" Pastor Tade announced when the clock struck twelve during the crossover service.

Everywhere erupted in shouts of joy. Some were deep in prayers. Some were rushing to greet loved ones. Some were singing and dancing. Some were making videos.

Ogechi's eyes were shut as she expressed her gratitude to God.
This was one new year she was excited about.

A year to grow deeper in her walk with God. A year to achieve her goals and dreams. God had given her hope, a new identity, a loving family, a church where she was being nurtured and also able to serve, a good job, good friends… She was really grateful.

She felt someone standing beside her and she opened her eyes. It was the person she had been hoping to see. Gbade pulled her into a side hug and wished her a happy new year. "Lord, I'm grateful for him too"

Afterwards, they had a thanksgiving session and they danced their hearts out before closing the service.
"Happy new year" She greeted Vera.

"Happy new year darling" Vera smiled brightly and hugged her.

But as soon as Ogechi turned away, she shot her disdainful look. She had seen how Gbade went to greet her earlier and she was very jealous.

If she wasn't in the picture, Gbade might have given her a second chance.

"She's not at fault. You were the one that ruined the relationship with your own hands" Her conscience pricked her.

"I did everything I did because I didn't have a choice! My life has been difficult and no one is there to support me! Of course, she's a good girl because she grew up in a good home. She's probably one of pastor's distant relatives. They got her a job, they are taking care of her. What does she know about the harsh realities of life?" She murmured.

"Is this how you want to start the new year Vera? Your heart needs help…" The Holy Spirit convicted.

"Leave me alone..." She fought tears. The truth was hard to accept.

It was better to hold on to the sentiments. Ogechi was to blame. Life was to blame. Everyone else was to be blamed but her.

*To be continued

Love the growing bond between Ogechi and Gbade🥰

But what do you guys think about Vera?🤔
