From the moment we learn that our children exist, the temptation to worry rears its head.
As a mother, that knowledge becomes the first thing you think of upon waking and the last thing before falling asleep.
Both of my kids are grown now, but whether they are 9 weeks old or 29, the enemy will try to tempt us with worry.
I read something once that said, "Motherhood is really about accepting the fact that you will be permanently worried for the rest of your life."
But that is not God's plan for us.
That is not God's best!
That is not a badge of honor we want to wear. Let's not be duped by the enemy!
What a wonderful privilege we have as parents that we can pray for our children and experience freedom from fear, concern, and worry.
We are truly the only ones who have the authority given to us by God and we can set His plans and protection in motion as we declare His words over our kids.
I believe God knew what He was doing when He entrusted these imperfect little humans to imperfect parents.
We do the best we can as parents to meet the needs of our children, physically and emotionally.
But we will inevitably fall short.
Whenever we feel the pressure that it's all up to us, we've forgotten a vital truth.
We must always remember that our children are first God's children.
He can meet their needs in ways that we cannot.
I once heard someone describe intercessory prayer as entering the throne room with the person's hand in yours and walking them to God and placing their hand in His and then walking away assured that they are safe in the care of their Father.
I'm a visual learner and I like to picture that in my mind.
Just as if you were caring for a small child while their parent was in another room and if they fell and hurt themselves you would bring them to their parent and put them safely in their arms so they could comfort them and care for them in a way that you couldn't.
When you walk away, you are carefree and peaceful because you know that they are in the best hands.
When praying for our children, we may have to visualize ourselves walking them to Him over and over and over again.
It's wonderful to know that our prayers are eternal, and every prayer we have prayed over our children is forever in motion, upheld by His Word, and whether we see evidence of change in their lives right now or not, it doesn't change that fact, because His Word is FOREVER settled in heaven.
What an incredible responsibility and blessing He has entrusted us with to be allowed to partner with Him in the caring of His children. ❤ ~Be Blessed, Jenny xoxo
