I think a lockdown of 2020 was a good reason for people to understand the need to be connected with people. In a world fast changing there is hardly time to meet up regularly. I think social media has been a good way to stay connected. But it all depends on what reasons you use it for. I have used social media to stay connected with friends and family and most importantly to learn and to stay updated with everything around. I have my own ways of social media usage keeping it under restriction and not making it an addiction. I post work, I learn skills and stay in touch. Man is a social animal as the saying goes.
