When I read the news that Google's private browsing "Incognito" mode wasn't private, I thought it was an April Fools joke. Turns out that it was not.
Apparently, Google was collecting data on users who thought they were in safe, private, and non-detectable mode as the title suggests. From a business sense, it is a clever way to coax people to search more broadly (so Google can collect more data on them). From an ethical standpoint, it is simply wrong.
How? You may ask.
Google has violated the sacred trust its users vested with the company. False advertisement, greed, scumbag, or whatever name you want to call it. Clearly, Google has been putting profit ahead principle by lying about the Incognito mode. This scheme has been ongoing for years, over the objections of some Google's own employees.
If you're looking for alternative to the Incognito, may I suggest DuckDuckGo instead? I receive no compensation from it.
What do you think about Google's business strategy?
