TOPIC: JESUS, THE RANSOM FOR MANY
TEXT: MARK 10:45
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. KJV
Jesus identified that his presence in the world is to minister, to serve and give his life a ransom for many (all). The Greek interpretation of ransom means a redemptive price. Thus, Jesus is simply saying that he came to the world, to give his life, as the price, for the redemption of all men in the world. This declaration from his mouth established that the world wasn't inline or in tune with the will of God. It is out of course and requires a price to be saved from destruction.
Do not forget that the world represents nations (human beings, men, and women). Jesus' life was given as the price for the redemption of all. Apostle Paul established in 1Timothy 2:5-6 that the will of God is for all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of truth, and this will was fully expressed through Christ Jesus, in that he is the mediator between God and man. Please read;
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." KJV
The man Christ Jesus gave himself a ransom for all. Jesus' life was given willingly for all men to come to God. Just as he established that he is the way unto the Father, and He also proclaimed that he surrendered his life willingly as a good shepherd, who lay down his life for his sheep. Ephesians 1:7 says; 'In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;' KJV
The blood of Jesus is in his death. And in his death, the blood represents the price for redemption. It's like the legal atonement for sin. However, it was much more than an atonement, it took away sins forever. He dealt with the root of sin and brought deliverance to life by God's grace. Redemption is in Christ Jesus. He is the ransom for the souls of men- the man Christ Jesus. This further established the essence of his identity as God in the flesh. Jesus Christ's death established an eternal redemption, the ransom for all. Have you been redeemed?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I realised that you alone is the answer to my heart cry. By your blood, I have been ransomed. I acknowledge this sacrifice and believe it in my heart that you died for my sins. I confess with my mouth that God raised you from the dead. Thank you for saving me from the power of sin and destruction. Amen
