Good Sunday afternoon. It is a sunny day with the birds chirping outside. Life is good. Here are a couple of odds and ends on this wonderful day.
We got to spend the midafternoon with our adult children and my daughter's fiancé over lunch at a central place. My wife had a great birthday lunch.
We are watching The Masters on TV. Having the good fortune to attend a few tournaments, yes it is that green and the azaleas are that resplendent.
One of the nicest things about The Masters is you hear the roar of the crowds when something great happens on another hole. So, do the players leaving them to wonder who caused the roar.
If you do go to a tournament wear comfortable shoes, a cap and loads of sunscreen. Trust me on this. You will notice those who don't by the red skin, likely foot blisters and pained expressions.
We are looking forward to seeing Billy Joel perform his 100th Madison Square Garden performance. We got to see him a few years ago when he celebrated the anniversary of The Beatles' "Rubber Soul" album by singing a few songs off it. He will be in a "New York State of Mind" tonight.
We did get to see Sir Paul McCartney a few years back. It was one of those "are we really here moments?" He put on a great concert with his Beatles and Wings' songs.
We have been fortunate to go to a lot of concerts over the years. In addition to the above two, some big names include Elton John, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Heart, The Allman Brothers, Tina Turner, Gordon Lightfoot, Elvis Costello, kd lang, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Winwood and Tom Petty. My wife would likely vote for Rod Stewart as her favorite while I would go with Bob Seger. Since my wife is less of a headbanger, I took my boys to see AC/ DC and Rush.
Live music is a joy. Treat yourself to these concerts or even local ones. You will remember them well as we have.
